Artissima is known for being the most important contemporary art fair in Italy. It was established in 1994 and is the longest running art fair in the country as well. The primary goal of this event is to raise awareness for experimental and innovative art. There are numerous galleries that participate in this event every year, including international exhibitors. There are different sections of this event including specially curated pieces that give attention to pieces that are just a little unique. There is a New Entries section, which features young galleries, and newly emerging artists under the age of 40.  There is another section for drawings.

The 2020 version of the Artissima Art Fair was Unplugged. This was a new format that combined digital projects and physical exhibitions for people to view. The digital portion of this event had a Present Future, Back to the Future and Disegni events online, as well as an online catalog to explore the different galleries, artworks, and artists. The physical portion of this event had 3 exhibition projects featured at different museums.

The 2021 event is set to take place from November 5th and the 7th. The tickets for this event should be available later on, usually about a month or 2 before the event.
