San Diego Comic Con

Event Info

San Diego Comic Con is a nonprofit annual convention that is a multi-genre entertainment and comic book convention. The first San Diego Comic Con, then known as the Golden State Comic Book Convention, took place in 1970. This is a 4-day event that takes place annually in July. The day before the opening of the comic con, there is a Preview Night that allows certain attendees the ability to walk around the show floor before the event gets really busy during the event.

The event originally showcased both comic books and fantasy and sci-fi related films, television, and other arts. This event, as it grew in popularity, started also showcasing pop culture and entertainment from across all the genres. Some examples of the genres showcased here includes anime, horror, manga, video games, collectible card games, and fantasy novels.

The 2020 San Diego Comic Con was the first time this convention ever cancelled an event. As a result of the uncertainty surrounding public gatherings on the back of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no badge (ticket) sales for the 2021 edition of Comic-Con. However, the Comic-Con 2020 badge (ticket) holders can either refund or rollover their badges for this year’s edition.

In case there is a change in arrangement, you can buy your Comic-Con Badge on the official event website after registering for a Member ID.

Whether you are just a casual enthusiast or a long-time fan of pop culture, the San Diego Comic-Con is the kind of event you would absolutely love. There is always something for everyone. Asides from the entertainment, the panels, afterparties, and signings afford you real opportunities to meet and interact with your favorite stars.
