New York Film Festival
Event Info
The New York Film Festival is held annually during autumn in New York City. This event is hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. The festival was founded in 1963 by Amos Vogel and Richard Roud, who were offered support from the Lincoln Center president William Schuman. This event is known for being among the longest running film festivals in the United States. This is a non-competitive film festival that is centered around a “Main Slate” that generally consists of between 20 and 30 feature films. There are also sidebars at this event for retrospectives and experimental cinema.
Since 2018, the festival is separated into several sections such as Main Slate, Spotlight on Documentary, Projections, Revivals and Retrospectives, Shorts, Special Events, and Convergence. Each of these sections have something special for the attendees to enjoy, depending on what their interests are. The programming has a rotating selecting committee responsible for the event, each working in their own section. The movies are carefully hand-picked for the event, offering some of the most unique and interesting new films.
The event doesn’t have an official date as of right now, but the estimated date for the film festival has a start date of September 24th, 2021 to October 10th, 2021.
