The event was founded in 1997, first being held on the base of Mount Fuji. It was in 1999 that this festival moved to its current location. The event has 7 main stages in addition to other minor stages that are spread throughout this site. The main stage is called the Green Stage, with a capacity of 50,000 guests. The other major stages include the White Stage, Orange Court, Field of Heaven, and the Red Marquee.
